Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Andriy Pyshnyy visits Sveriges Riksbank
The Riksbank and the National Bank of Ukraine have been cooperating closely for many years in the field of central banking. This cooperation has deepened since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in early 2022. Not least in terms of contingency planning and the central bank's experience in securing payments and maintaining a financial system in war.
At the end of last year, Riksbank Governor Erik Thedéen visited the Ukrainian central bank in Kiev, the first central bank governor to do so since the outbreak of war. Now the Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, Andriy Pyshnyy, is visiting the Riksbank.
"We are really happy that Governor Andriy Pyshnyy is making this visit. We have a lot to learn from their experiences of financial and civil preparedness. We will continue to support and be committed to Ukraine in their difficult situation. We look forward to further deepening our close relationship and cooperation," says Governor Erik Thedéen.
"The National Bank of Ukraine has unparalleled experience in managing the financial sector under extraordinary conditions. The most compelling evidence of our effectiveness is the smooth functioning of our financial sector for over 850 days of full-scale war. I am sincerely grateful to the Governor of the Riksbank, Erik Thedéen, for the invitation and the opportunity to share our knowledge. We deeply appreciate the support for our country from both the central bank and the entire nation of Sweden, and we look forward to further developing our cooperation in the future," comments Governor Andriy Pyshnyy.
During his visit to Stockholm, Governor Pyshnyy is following the monetary policy process at the Riksbank, but he has also participated in several events. He has, for instance, met with representatives of the Government as well as Swedish authorities and organisations to discuss and share Ukraine's experience in maintaining central banking activities in war and building up civil preparedness.
