Anna Seim visits Gävle

News Deputy Governor Anna Seim visited Gävle on Friday and spoke about the Riksbank's role in the economy, the latest interest rate decision and neutral interest rates at a round table organised by the Chamber of Commerce for Central Sweden at Gevalia in Gävle. She also met with municipal commissioner Åsa Lång Viklund to discuss the economic situation.

"The Riksbank's interest rate cuts support economic activity while paving the way for price stability. If our economic and inflation outlook remains unchanged, the policy rate can be cut again in December and during the first half of 2025.”

At the same time, Ms Seim emphasised that there is considerable global uncertainty and that the Riksbank is always prepared to adjust monetary policy going forward if new information indicates that doing so is justified.

"We are now entering a preparation process to analyse current and coming information ahead of our monetary policy meeting on 18 December. We will then return with the implications for the outlook and the appropriate monetary policy stance to stabilise inflation close to the target.”
